Reflect and practice · Lesson 13 · About 5 minutes with practice

  1. Name your own need
  2. Communicate directly
  3. Respect the response

Separate a feeling from a claim

A relationship reading may help you describe uncertainty, a need, or an assumption. It cannot establish whether someone loves you, is being unfaithful, or intends to contact you. Begin with what you actually observed and label the interpretation you added. If a card seems to confirm a fear, pause and ask what information would be needed to support that claim outside the reading.

Ask questions that respect both people

Try What do I need to communicate? or Which boundary would help me participate freely? These questions concern your own actions without trying to control a response. You may invite another person to reflect with you, but they can decline. Do not publish their messages, identifying details, or private experiences in a forum reading without permission; a public card interpretation does not make that information yours to share.

Use symbols to prepare a conversation

In a hypothetical example, Two of Cups might prompt a question about mutual attention, while Queen of Swords might prompt clearer wording around a limit. You could prepare a direct request and listen to the actual answer. The cards cannot guarantee agreement, reconciliation, or a safe response. A reading should not pressure anyone to stay in a situation, contact someone who has declined contact, or set aside their boundaries.

Try it yourself

Rewrite What are they secretly thinking? as three questions about your assumptions, communication, and boundaries. Choose one and compare Two of Cups with Queen of Swords. Draft a sentence you could say directly, leaving the other person free to answer or decline.

Check your understanding

Which question respects another person's agency?

  1. How can I force them to return?
  2. What do I need to communicate, and what response can I accept?
  3. Which card proves they are hiding something?

What do I need to communicate, and what response can I accept?

The second question focuses on communication and your own choices. The other options seek control or treat symbols as evidence about private facts.
